A debate about the future design and development of gardens and landscapes around new homes |
Why The No Stone Unturned debate is a partnership between the New Homes Garden Awards initiative and the Museum of Garden History. The event also enjoys the support of the Landscape Institute, Society of Garden Designers and our distinguished and passionate panel of speakers from all sides of the debate. The New Homes Garden Awards initiative was launched 5 years ago by Denis Rawlings and property writer David Hoppit who shared a passion for gardening, gardens and landscapes. The awards programme was introduced to recognise and reward excellence in the design of gardens and landscapes around new homes. The awards initiative also seeks to stimulate productive and creative partnerships between house builders, garden designers and landscape architects. Historically house builders have earned a well-deserved reputation for the poor quality of outdoor space provided to their purchasers. It was patently obvious that after designer kitchens and film star bathrooms gardens didn't rate too highly on their list of priorities. Happily, in recent years that has changed dramatically and a much greater emphasis is put on the design and construction of gardens and landscapes around urban and rural housing developments. House builders have embraced the New Homes Garden Awards initiative with great enthusiasm and after just five years the awards are seen as the garden and landscape 'Oscars' of the house building industry. The Museum of Garden History exists to increase the understanding and appreciation of the history and development of gardens and gardening in the UK. The museum was established in 1977 and in that time has become a first class national resource for anyone, amateur or professional, who has an interest in gardening and landscaping. The Museum of Garden History and the New Homes Garden Awards are committed to improving the quality of outdoor space around new homes and encouraging successful partnerships between house builders, garden designers and landscape architects. The No Stone Unturned debate is your chance to contribute to our future environment. |
